I have been working in a garden shed for a couple of years now. It has been an amazing couple of years and the constraints of the space have forced me to think around problems. It has been good to be at home having a young child and I have suprised myself just how far I have come during this busy time with less than perfect conditions. This new workshop is a massive improvement giving me all important head height (as I am so tall!) This week has been insulating and lining it and getting the power supply sorted.

Its going to be a good little space I think and all rent free! (cheers dad!) Lets see what I can do with it! I will also have space for visitors now for the drinking of coffee.

  • You are living the absolute dream!!

Good to see peanut doing some work too!

Let me know when you have the official opening. Wine, chilled music etc. ????

  • This is great Dean, and yes, if you want to make work you’ll find a way and making the little shed work for you (it was called Majorca wasn’t it?) so that you could still produce work is a brilliant example of the artistic impulse overcoming the constraints of physical space. If the impulse is strong enough – all else will follow.

On a more important point, what you calling the shed? I wondered about “Lanzarotte” as it’s much bigger then Majorca. You want to avoid the south side, if you do call it Lanzarotte – or how about Fuerteventura (meaning “stong wind”!!!)

    Hee hee, well done really!

  • Yea! She’s a lovely shed – like that you’ve exhibited her in film noir style for your bloggers lol, very classy!
Will you be accesorising with a “home sweet home” welcome matt?

Seriously great news that you have more space and a fresh start to make your new work though. And what a top dad!

cheers for the massages guys! Thinking of calling her “Fulsom” after my hero Mr CAsh!

  • don’t know what Tom and Helga have been up to but you haven’t had any massages from me. Bet you were playing that “my shoulders ache because I’ve been painting the ceiling all day with a one inch brush” card.

  • lol slip of the tongue!
